Just when you thought that the war of the words was over between Microsoft and Sony, Microsoft has decided to lob a few more grenades to make sure that the tension doesn't die.
Dan Cornelius, marketing manager for Microsoft UK, says that the recent price drops for the Xbox 360 machines will take even more market share away from Sony during the upcoming Christmas season. His main argument is an old but effective one-the PS3 is (still) too expensive.
"If you look at PS3, it's a lot of money for families to come in at," he told MCV.
He continued, "Sony is requiring a fairly novice gamer to enter into things like Blu-Ray and wireless gaming by default. The Core's (360) still doing well for us in the UK and the price drop is bound to produce a spike in sales.
"These customers like the fact that they don't have to foot the bill for a load of technology they don't need. It means we can gain access to a type of consumer that PS3 cannot."
Coming this holiday shopping season, we'll all find out if Cornelius is correct on his assessment.

Good riddance. I hope Microsoft crushes Sony like a bug.
I doubt it. Sony will pull away once MGS4 hits the market...
@ mishakozpull away?? do you know the numbetrs for sold units? look at http://nexgenwars.com yes its whitout a t
nexgen wars is fake. Watch this. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Cx3zVUdBxB0
in any case, mgs4 is one game... as is halo... and which one is coming out this christmas?
mishakoz, perhaps you're forgetting a couple of things. One, xbox 360 is cheaper, so to say they will 'pull away' is overkill. That is like me saying xbox 360 will pull away when halo 3 comes out, which is sort of overkill as well. Sure it will boost xbox sales, considering the recent price drop along with the most anticipated game this year. Xbox 360, sorry fan boys, is going to probably win the majority of market shares this generation, and has (and will have) the best games available.

I went into the local gamestation and saw some nice crash's on 360 prices. The Elite is £299 with Blue Dragon, the premium is £250 with any selected game and the core is £180 with any selected game. The PS3 is £400 plus two games and an extra six axis controller.
$600 with the best games, $350 with more fps and $250 for a system with rehash boring games from last gen.im go with PS3 people dont want the cheapest they want the best.
Actually the Wii is most likely to pull away with the market share. It has sold almost as many units and not been out as long. Nintendo is also not having to shell out hundreds of millions of dollars for repairs and recalls. So while Microsoft is worried about bashing the PS3 the Wii is silently bashing them.
who are you people O.o
