$130 seems a bit pricy for a video game don't you think? I already feel like they're taking an arm and a leg when I drop $60 bucks.
Well maybe I'm alone in that thought, because the $130 Legendary Edition of Halo 3 is on track to sell out by next week's launch. This is all confirmed was confirmed by a Microsoft spokesperson who made the statement to Gameindustry.biz.
So what do you get for the $130? A replica helmet case of the Spartan Mjolnir Marc VI Helmet case for the three disk set, which includes the game and two full disks of extra content. Sounds like a gimmicky scam to me. I'd much rather have a life size helmet come with the thing if you ask me.
Then again, one of the Legendary Edition buyers is probably going to be the same guy who wins the $6000 Master Chief suit bid.

The helmet is life-sized, but you would need to hollow it out to wear it.
What an over-hyped game. Seriously, how much are they going to milk out of this franchise? Sure, the Halo games have been made quite well, but what unique features does it have? It's just another vanilla FPS, though hyped probably more than any other game i've ever seen.
To anyone who cares to down-talk Halo, I have one thing to say: It's fun. That's all there is to the logic. It's. Fun. And if there's something wrong with liking a game because it's fun, then shoot me now, because I don't care to live in a world where fun alone isn't enough to call a game 'good'.
Oh, and I have the Legendary set reserved. What can I say? I'm a whore for that "limited Edition" text on the game box.
Though i have been complaining about how this game is way over-hyped, I am a weakling and could not resist Bungie's lure. I had the Legendary edition reserved since February, I'm sure it will be fun. But, i hope that Bungie spent as much time fine tuning the single player portion as they did with multi-player. That is what i fear the most, game developers spending more time with the multi-player portion of games and leaving the single player gamers (like me) in the dust.
I am really intrigued to see how 4 player single player co-op will play out. Sounds like a really fun way to extend the replay value of the game instead of playing the same frustrating Capture The Flag and Deathmatch modes over and over again (which i totally suck at). Also, looking for glitches in co-op could be fun too. What do you guys and gals think?
Thankfully, the multiplayer formula was pretty much already fleshed out, it just needed some tweaking and balancing. They seem to be doing a lot to hype the single player portion moreso than the multi, as that was already a given. They admitted their mistakes in Halo 2's SP game, and if those tantalizing museum ads are any indication, we're in for some epic battles. They better be damn epic if there's potential for 4 players running around at the same time!!!
I don't want to buy into the hype, but 'm with Archem. I enjoy the games. I like playing them. It didn't take anyone to tell me that I liked it or that I liked it because it was the cool thing to do-- I HATED the very IDEA of Halo, and jumped on the "I hates teh Halo!" bandwagon because THAT was the cool thing to do. Then I played it. I enjoyed it, and I played it even more. So, you know what? Those of you that hate it? Good for you. Don't play it. But don't freakin' post the same tired generic "hype" responses every time someone even thinks of mentioning the name Halo.
