Call of Duty 4 Online Co-Op?

Call of Duty 4 Co-OpOnline co-op has become the standard since Gears of War introduced the gameplay experience a year ago. While playing with friends in the same room via splitscreen is a blast, there is just nothing like jumping online to help your buddies halfway across the globe in full HDTV wonder.

It should come to no surprise then that Call of Duty 4 may also include the option to blast away enemies online with friends.

Infinity Ward did not officially confirm co-op would be available the day Call of Duty 4 ships, but hinted that the option could be included later thanks to downloadable content.

"When directly asked whether an online co-op would be made available as Downloadable Content through Xbox Live, Collier grinned nervously, practically beaming as he said nothing more."

It makes sense why Call of Duty 4 would decide to go the online co-op route. Call of Duty 4’s biggest competition for the gamer’s dollars this holiday season is going to be Halo 3. With Halo 3 boasting an impressive four player online co-op, Infinity Ward had to answer back somehow. Granted the decision to include online co-op was probably made well before Halo 3’s co-op announcement.

Either way, having two different online co-op experiences to choose from, sounds like a mighty fine problem to have.
