Does anyone remember the great MTV series Celebrity Deathmatch? No, I'm not talking about the GOD-AWFUL videogame adaptation, I'm talking about claymation celebrities fighting to the death with buckets of blood and gore! This is one of my favorite shows of all time, and it saddens me that it only lasted four years. Of course, MTV2 tried to revive it, but... we're not gonna talk about that.

Anyway, what if someone applied it to the videogame world? Not so much characters from games (which would be cool), but with actual personalities from the gaming world? This latest Head 2 Head competition has been inspired by the release and critical success of Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed II. Players of the game get to watch Ezio Auditore di Firenze, the game's protagonist, evolve from a young, fun-loving lady's man to a much older and wiser Master Assassin. However the game likes to occasionally remind Ezio of Altair Ibn-La'Ahad, protagonist of Assassin's Creed, who the Order of Assassins see as the greatest of them all. With that comparison thrown in by the game developers themselves, it almost goes without saying that we here at GamerNode would also choose to have these two face off in this latest edition of Head 2 Head.

Almost everyone loves Nathan Drake, the witty fortune hunter who seeks out hidden valuables from mysteries in history. Since the release of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, the original game in the series, many have compared Drake to the man who is most well known for chasing down ancient relics of great value, Indiana Jones. Today's Head 2 Head involves a rivalry that dates back to the early 90s and the 16-bit era of videogame platforms. That's about the time that Sega brought Sonic the Hedgehog onto the gaming scene with the sole purpose of combating Nintendo's established and popular mascot, Mario. Sega and Sonic were all about being "edgy" and "cool," portraying Nintendo games as much more sober experiences than their own. "Sega does what Nintendon't" was one marketing tagline that explained the company's stance perfectly. Mario and Sonic have been competitors ever since.
