<title>VS Node 21: Games of the Year</title>
<itunes:author>GamerNode.com</itunes:author>
<itunes:subtitle>Eddie, Dan, Jason, and Mike discuss eight candidates for GamerNode's 2011 Game of the Year and reveal the esteemed winner.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>You’ve seen the nominees and winners for GamerNode’s Special Honors and Best of 2011 Nodie Awards. Now it’s time for the biggest virtual trophy of them all.

It took a lot of deliberation, some of which you can listen to here in VS Node 21: Games of the Year, a podcast discussing the GotY nominees and two honorable mentions at greater length. We allowed six nominees this time instead of the usual five because of how many great games there were to choose from, but in the end, we did manage to narrow it down to a single winner.

Listen to find out who took home the title of 2011 GamerNode Game of the Year, and of course feel free to chime in via our comments section on the site, on Facebook, and on Twitter using the #NodieAwards hashtag. We always love to hear from you and to talk games together.

Intro theme, "Dungeon" by Koji Kondo for Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda, 1987. Remixed by Brian Schulman and Charles Kantz, 2010. Outro, "Dragonborn" by Jeremy Soule for Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, 2011.

<itunes:author>GamerNode.com</itunes:author>
<itunes:subtitle>Eddie, Jason, Mike, and Dan present and discuss the nominees and winners of the 2010 Nodie Awards!</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>Welcome to GamerNode's 2010 Nodie Awards!

Once again, GamerNode has improved upon our annual awards presentation, and will be bringing you our most extensive list of Nodie Awards categories and nominees in our 5-year history. For 2010, which was yet another epic year of gaming, each individual Nodie Award category initially highlighted the five nominees the GN staff felt were most worthy of recognition after the long and arduous narrowing-down process held at GN HQ.

During the last days of 2010, GamerNode revealed the winners, in four groups, capping the event off with this, the VS Node Podcast: Game of the Year Edition, to coincide with the final day and our 2010 Game of the Year winner.

Links to all 28 categories and over 75 total nominees and their GN reviews can be found at the main article's link below. You can pick and choose the awards that are most important to you, or you can click through each and every page in sequence using the numbered links at the bottom of the article to get the full 2010 Nodie Awards experience.

<itunes:subtitle>The GamerNode team gets off track, talks titties, and cracks a bunch of jokes, in part at ourselves.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>Eddie, Jason, Kyle, Mike, Dan, and Ashley are more than just great podcasters; they're also good at BSing and joking around about titties, cross-dressing, and anything else. These are the outtakes from September's shows.

Interlude, "Dungeon" by Koji Kondo for Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda, 1987. Remixed by Brian Schulman and Charles Kantz, 2010.

<itunes:author>GamerNode.com</itunes:author>
<itunes:subtitle>Hey, guess what! More than just Halo: Reach came out in September, and Jason, Mike, and Dan talk about them all.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>Jason Fanelli, Mike Murphy, and Dan Crabtree have a jolly little chat about September's game releases. Dan loves NHL 11, Mike loves Civilization V, Jason loves Professor Layton and the Unwound Future, and they're all down with Halo: Reach. <title>VS Node 16: Bored Out of Our Minds</title>
<itunes:author>GamerNode.com</itunes:author>
<itunes:subtitle>The GamerNode staff gets together to discuss the games that bore them, why this happens, and what can be done to prevent it.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>Eddie, Jason, Mike, Kyle, Anthony, and Ashley do some complaining about the problem of boredom in gaming. They cover the games, genres, and components of games that stand against their overall "fun factor," as well as the summer doldrums, strategies to avoid losing interest, and a few of the design choices that can prevent that from happening. They also talk about the joys of running on walls, the pleasure of 30 pages of in-game text, and the value of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind technology.

<title>VS Node Replay: August 2010</title>
<itunes:author>GamerNode.com</itunes:author>
<itunes:subtitle>There are a lot more games to talk about in August than there were in July, and this extra large Replay 'cast does just that.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>Jason Fanelli, Eddie Inzauto, Mike Murphy, Dan Crabtree, and rookie GamerNode staffer Kyle Hilliard talk about the games of August 2010. Kane &amp; Lynch 2: Dog Days, Mafia II, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Metroid: Other M, BioShock 2, Dead Rising: Case Zero, Ys Seven, Shank, and others are examined on a notably sarcastic, but funny and informative show this month. If you're interested in any of these games, check out what the GN crew has to say. "Car battery plus ceiling fan plus chainsaw plus chainsaw plus chainsaw plus chainsaw." You'll understand later.

<title>VS Node 14: All Hyped Up</title>
<itunes:author>GamerNode.com</itunes:author>
<itunes:subtitle>Eddie, Matt, and Dan discuss the effects of hype on the videogame industry, and reveal the upcoming games they're excited to play.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>Dan Crabtree and Matt Erazo join host Eddie Inzauto to talk about the hype train in the videogame industry. From marketing srategy, to community involvement, to the effects of sequels, to the way hype alters the final gameplay experience, the sans-Fanelli trio of gamers touch on a number of related topics. Does hype condition us to believe what is told to us about games, or does it have the opposite affect, producing more disappointments and surprises than one would be subject to with fewer prior influences? Additionally, will May 2010 spell certain doom for gamers' wallets with the release of 3D Dot Game Heroes, Lost Planet 2, Skate 3, Alan Wake, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, Red Dead Redemption, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Modnation Racers, UFC Undisputed 2010, and the rest of the month's lineup?

Also mentioned in this episode: Borderlands, Monster Hunter Tri, Nier, Turok, Final Fantasy XIII, Splinter Cell Conviction, BioShock, Dante's Inferno, God of War, Left 4 Dead, Devil May Cry, Halo: Reach, SleepIsDeath, Super Street Fighter IV, etc.

<title>VS Node No Bounds: PAX East 2010 Day 2 Recap (aka: The GamerToad Podcast)</title>
<itunes:author>GamerNode.com</itunes:author>
<itunes:subtitle>The second day of PAX East 2010 is over, and GamerNode has plenty to say about it.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>Mike Murphy recorded a podcast about everything he saw during day 2 at PAX East 2010 as Eddie Inzauto, Jason Fanelli, and the others listened in, but with some heavy editing and internet magic, GamerNode has managed to come away with a more balanced discussion of the crew's Penny-Arcade Expo day 2 experience. Skate 3, Mafia II, Crackdown 2, APB, Shank, Two Worlds II, Splinter Cell Conviction are all touched upon along with karaoke, drinks, and a panel about the greatest games of all time. The end of the podcast has been left mostly untouched to give faithful VS Node listeners a little taste of the insanity of the earlier parts of the recording and the state of certain podcasters. Enjoy.

Thanks to Lady Gaga for the awesome background music, and to Brian Schulman for the rad No Bounds interlude.

<title>VS Node 13: Do You Want Files With That?</title>
<itunes:author>GamerNode.com</itunes:author>
<itunes:subtitle>Eddie, Jason, Matt, and Kyle discuss the pros and cons of videogame DLC.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>Kyle Stallock and Matt Erazo join Eddie Inzauto and Jason Fanelli to talk downloadable content in Versus Node's 13th episode. The era of digital distribution is upon us, and more publishers are delivering DLC to consumers as a post-purchase transaction model to both profit from and provide for the gaming community. These passionate members of said community give their thoughts on which practices are actually good for gamers and which they'd rather see take a hike. They also examine a few specific examples to see if they're really worth the money, and discuss the player response to DLC and different ways we consume these products in general.

Intro: "You Pay For What You Get" by Dave Matthews Band, 1994. Outro: "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" by Jack Norworth and Albert Von Tilzer, performed by Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly, 1949.
