Eddie Inzauto takes a look at the original superhero deckbuilding game, Emergents: Genesis, by Anthony Conta, Brian David-Marshall, and Matthew Wang of Urban Island Games.
A few oversights and imbalances hold this one back, but the progressive card play with specified player targets, defensive actions, and counter attacks make this an interesting game for 3 or 4 players.
The box says it plays 2-4, but the 2-player game is very hum-drum. 4 is easily the best way to play Emergents: Genesis, with as many crossed battle lines between players as possible.
