Kotaku reports that the GameFAQs forum members have discovered a puzzle that allows gamers to play God of War II in HD mode. The upgrade in graphics works on the PS2 (when using component mode and cables) and on the PS3.
The puzzle revolves around finding hidden items. We won't go into too much detail so as to not spoil everything, but the idea of playing God of War II with HD-quality graphics is a pretty good incentive to buy the game or play through it again.

Cool, does it go up to 1080p?
If it's playable on the PS2 in "HD Mode" then it probably doesn't.... though I'm sure the PS3 (or your TV) could probably upconvert the picture to 1080p
No I read it, and it just uses max buffers or something in 480p mode.
