Until now, original owner Interplay had allowed Bethesda to develop sequels in the series, but retained rights to a Fallout MMO. 5.75 million dollars later, Bethesda now has sole ownership of the IP. The aforementioned MMO will be licensed to Interplay.
Stipulations apply, however. Interplay is required to begin developmenton the MMO within two years, with at least $30 million in financing. They must also launch the game within four years of beginning the project. If these conditions are not met, then Interplay will lose the license. If the game does launch, Bethesda get 12% of the proceeds.
