SEGA announced that notable RPG developer BioWare has signed on to develop a brand-new, exclusive RPG for the Nintendo DS starring our favorite blue guy -- Sonic the Hedgehog. There's no other news about the game itself other than the game carries a 2008 release date.
Considering the near spotless track record BioWare has when it comes to crafting awesome RPGs, I really have nothing to worry about for the new game.
Ray Muzky, CEO of BioWare, stated, "As huge fans of Sonic ourselves, we're committed to delivering a truly amazing story-driven experience within the Sonic universe, focusing on capturing the character's broad appeal and placing him in a completely original adventure."
Back in September 2006, BioWare announced the formation of a new handheld gaming division and that their debut game would be for the Nintendo DS but no one suspected that it would be a game based on our blue buddy, Sonic.
Hopefully, we'll see some of our favoirte characters in the new game such as Doctor Eggman, Knuckles and Tails. With the ring hunting aspects and adventure themes that are typical of all Sonic games, the RPG will be something to look forward to by fans of the little blue hedgehog wearing red sneakers.

I've seen far too many fan Sonic RPGs, and this seems like another one of them, and it makes me cringe. But then I see that BioWare's getting in on this, and it makes me smile. BioWare has a great track-record for RPGs in the past, and there's no reason why they can't do what other people haven't: Make a good RPG about Sonic!
