New Super Mario Galaxy scans reveal new features

Super Mario Galaxy Haunted WorldSuper Mario Sunshine was not the return to form many Mario fans were hoping for. The water jet pack fundamentally changed how the game played and many felt that, while fun, Super Mario Sunshine was nowhere near the quality of the cherished Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo 64.

Super Mario Galaxy isn't suffering from this problem. Every time new content is revealed people get more excited about its release this fall. The majority of fans are calling it a return to what made Mario great, and with what we have seen so far, it is hard not to argue Super Mario Galaxy will be the best 3D Mario game to ever hit shelves.

So in order to hold over all us hungry fans, Joystiq has found three pages of new Mario Galaxy content thanks to scans of Famitsu via NeoGAF. The scans are not only high quality, but show off some of the new worlds, enemies, and powers Mario will experience this fall.

Most exciting is the return of the Boo Mansions, with scans showing not only the haunted manor sitting on a planet but also Mario inside with the ability to transform into a Boo himself as he explores the spooky world. Joining the Boo Mansions will also be a desert terrain with tornados, a series of planetoids which resemble beans, the typical lava level, and even under water adventures. Mario has his work cut off for him.

Super Mario Galaxy has to be one of my most anticipated games for this holiday season, and this coming from a guy who lives and breathes Halo. Super Mario 64 was the first Mario game I really enjoyed and was old enough to appreciate. Returning to my roots with a fresh coat of paint and new worlds to explore couldn't be any more exciting.

Look for Super Mario Galaxy when it hits stores November 12th, 2007.
