In a clear example that the PS2 is not dead, Sony Computer Entertainment America announced plans to release a white limited edition PS2 in North America. But there's a catch: it'll come bundled with karaoke game SingStar Pop and two microphones. For the low price of $149.99, perspective PS2 buyers can nab the package sometime in November.
Even though the PS2 has had a heck of a run, Sony is not planning to stop production. In the month of June, 42% of all console gaming time was done on the PS2. Even though Sony is spending most of their development time on the PS3, the PS2 is still alive and kicking.
Jack Tretton, President of SCEA, said, "With our expansive library of titles for PlayStation, led by social gaming experiences such as SingStar, and Buzz!, we have an incredible offering for first-time gaming families."
Here's a picture of the entire snazzy package:

I'd hit it.
Is it sad that my first thought was, "I'd like it, but I already have SingStar Pop"?
Well it's about damn time, if you ask me! I remember seeing something about these being released in Japan, but I always figured it would make its way to the states within a week or two... It's been quite a bit more than a week or two...
HA HA HA HA! Sony resorts to ther strongest card, the last-gen Ps2 to save themselves when the PS3 phails :P Pathetic.
HA HA HA HA! Sony continues to develop the strongest gaming console, the current-gen ps2 to let current fans and consumers play great games and attract new customers :p Great.
