Yesterday's Smash Bros Dojo update has revealed that the upcoming Super Smash Bros Brawl will indeed feature online play via Nintendo's Wi-fi connection.
There will be two ways to play: "With Friends" and "With Anyone"
"With Anyone" works much like Mario Kart DS, where players wait for matches with players from around the globe. When everyone is ready, the match begins, ending the pre-fight punching bag session.
The "With Friends" option allows players to enter friend codes and connect directly to those people with whom they would like to compete. There are more options in this mode than in the "With Anyone" selection. As Masahiro Sakurai says, "With friends, you can brawl any way you like. And there are other modes besides just free-for-alls." You can even taunt with up to 4 custom messages, each assigned to a direction on the Wii-mote's directional pad.
Here's hoping that the game won't deny us from putting in phrases like, "F*CK YOU," "EAT SH*T," and the ever popular, "I F*CKED YOUR MOTHER LAST NIGHT, BITCH!" They're your friends, right? All's fair, then.
