Crytek CEO says console shooters are way behind PCs

crysis1Crytek's upcoming powerhouse, Crysis, will surely be tearing up PCs come November but in the meantime, us Crysis fans will have to wait for later this month for the delayed demo. Nonetheless, Gamer Informer squeezed out some answers from Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli and he shared his opinions on Crysis for consoles, Halo 3 and Far Cry 2.

The question that everyone seems to ask Crytek is if it will head to consoles. Yerli responded with a yes, Crysis can run on consoles, but it won't be the same standard that the PC version will have because, hey, a beastly PC will definitely destroy any consoles on the market now.

"What I said was that Crysis could run on consoles... But what's happening is, is people are asking me if it's possible. Of course. You can get Crysis even on the Nintendo DS. But not that Crysis - you cannot get Crysis as it is on PC on any consoles. What you would have to do is compromise the design and the level design - in order of the PS3 and Xbox 360 regards you have to fulfill the memory constraints."

Second, Yerli talked about his enthusiasm, or lack thereof, for Halo 3. Much like me, he played both Halo and Halo 2, but didn't really get it. He even travels past some boundaries and denounced that console shooters are lingering far behind PC shooters, which is a bold claim.

"No. I don't want to talk bad about it... I tried to play Halo 1, I tried to play Halo 2. I really didn't get it. It didn't get me, well I bought copies though...It's not that it's not possible, but console shooters are at the level of PC shooters 5-6 years ago. The gameplay has to be more sophisticated - more thinking then shooting."

Lastly, while Ubisoft is heading forward with Far Cry 2, Yerli is eagerly anticipating what Ubisoft will do for Far Cry 2. He praises the directions Ubisoft is going with the game, but still harbors some resentment because Crytek started Far Cry.

"It's great. I'm really looking forward to it because it's going to be really cool to play the sequel to your own creation. So it's going to be really good. I'm happy that the differences from Far Cry are pretty strong. At first I was a bit disappointed at a melancholic personal level, but it's a good idea because it allows it and Crysis to co-exist."

just keep the system requirements low.... I have seen dozens of supposed requirements for the game and most have not been optimized as much as they kept ensuring everybody. They said the game would scale back a couple years, but they must be on different years than me because a lot of the requirements i have seen won't be handled by my computer...
