Home, the new MMO community for the PlayStation 3, has a lot of questions surrounding it. One is whether or not it will help sales for the game console and give it an advantage over its competitors.
NCsoft's own director of product development, Thomas Bidaux, came out with his beliefs, stating quite bluntly to GamesIndustry.biz that "I don't think you can say you will sell more PS3s because of Home."
He actually thinks the relationship between Home and the PlayStation 3 is quite the opposite and "the success of Home is 100 percent tied to the PS3's penetration into the market."
If Bidaux is correct in his statement, then Home's "under the radar" launch makes more sense, and shows that Sony intended Home for this purpose all along. This makes Home more of a convenience and novelty for current users rather than a large-scale perk to reel in new customers.
