Psychonauts sequel is not in the works

Update: An update on Next-Gen reveals from Tim himself saying that there's no Psychonauts sequel in the works. Double Fine is planning to release an information page about Psychonauts on their website, that's it. Big bummer.

For the past week or two, you couldn't even move around without running into news regarding Tim Schafer and his company Double Fine Productions.

Schafer's new game, Brutal Legend, was revealed, but this week offers something many of us gamers have been hoping for.

If you head over to Double Fine's projects page, you'll clearly see a section for Psychonauts, but it has a big "Coming Soon" pasted over it.

I don't think you have to be a rocket scientist to see what's happening because it's pretty evident that Double Fine is definitely working on something related to Psychonauts.

With that said, that's pretty awesome news. Even though the game didn't sell exceeding well (400,000 copies since June), it was an excellent title for gamers due to its plot, memorable moments and awesome characters.

Our prayers have finally been answered.
