The Cyberathlete Professional League (CPL) announced plans to host a $1 million Halo 3 competition during the Extreme Winter Championships from December 18th to December 22nd in Dallas, Texas. X Factor Tournament will organize the competition.
The lucky winner of the $1 million bones will receive a $250,000 instant cash payout at the event itself and I'm assuming will just get the remaining money in... gold bricks? The sheet said "other prizes will be paid to at least 64 places," so what does that exactly mean?
Registration will open on October 30th and the competition is open to all gamers worldwide. I did get my hands on Halo 3 briefly over the past few days but there's no reason for me to participate.
Angel Munoz, founder and president of the CPL, said, "We are thrilled to host this enormous $1,000,000 Halo 3 open competition and to announce it on the tenth year anniversary of our first event. X Factor Tournament has deposited $1,000,000 to a designated bank account for prize payment, making it the largest videogame competition ever."
