I think one of the great things about being a gamer is dreaming of what my favorite game developers are working on next.
So for instance, two big name developers, 2K Boston and Blizzard Entertainment, recently put up some job bulletins and the descriptions definitely leave some bits to your imagination.
For 2K Boston, they're looking for a senior console programmer; 2K Boston is, of course, well known for its recently released FPS/sci-fi adventure, BioShock.
While the job description lists several standard skills for a console programmer, there's some emphasis for PS3 development, which may give a hint on where 2K Boston is heading in the future. BioShock 2? BioShock for PS3?
If you go 3000 miles the opposite way, you'll run into Blizzard Entertainment in California and they're looking for quite a few positions. While some of them are for your standard lead artists or animators, there are two positions specifically for a lead 3D character artist and a lead 3D environment artist for a next-gen MMO.
As I'm sure you all know, Blizzard developed a little MMORPG called World of Warcraft, so for Blizzard to be looking for some help on a next-gen MMO, certainly will raise some eyebrows. World of Starcraft? World of Diablo? Diablo III? Who knows!
