Crytek, the people behind Far Cry and Crysis, have released information regarding the upcoming patch for Crysis.
The patch will be the first since the games release and will address the following issues:
This may seem like an extremely short changelog, but Crytek has stated that "...this is not a major patch to the game, but more an update on performance and some Multiplayer tweaks that have been requested by the community." By the sounds of things, a lot of the other problems people are having will be addressed soon in a larger patch.
In related news Crytek has endorsed a fix found by members of the community for the dreaded Weapon Sound loop bug. If you are experiencing, the problem the Crysis dev team recommends you follow these instructions to remedy the situation:
1. Open console and type in "con_restricted 0" (without "").
2. Type in "s_soundenable 0" (without "") to disable sound completely.
3. Type in "s_soundenable 1" (without "") to enable sound again.
Crytek said that while this does fix the problem whenever it occurs, they are working on a permenant fix to be included in a future patch.
With all that out of the way, I'd just like to say that this kind of thing happens all too often with PC games. Developers seem to think it's ok to release a half-baked game and then just patch it up in the months following release. This leads to forums full of abuse and people saying they will never buy a game from Developer X again.
Of course the flipside of this is that if developers hold games back to fix any problems, everyone whinges when games aren't released on the promised date.
So what do you think? Is it better for games to be released sooner with a few more bugs or for them to be released later with hardly any problems?

I think its depends of the game, like if you want something liek crysis, thats not rly that major of a problem, ya know? but some games like Gran turismo 4, take your time guys, it was very worth it.
I don't mind seeing patches as long as the company didn't knowingly send out a half assed game with the intent of fixing it later. Sometimes, bugs slip through the cracks, but in some cases, the game just isn't finished. If game companies are going to do that, how about we only pay them what IS completed in the game? How'd they like that?
At least they are releasing patches, it shows that they haven't totally abandoned the game.
Test Drive Unlimited for the PC is a prime example of the devs just completely screwing up the entire situation. They released the game and there were an absolute torrent of bugs including a myriad of graphical problems, saved game corrupting problems, sound problems and just so many more. It took them months and months to get a patch out and they haven't released anything since that patch, and a HUGE number of people still have problems, or have had problems arise after installing the new patch.
Then there is the matter of the Xbox 360 version of TDU getting 5 car packs already, with a sixth on the way, while PC users only have 2 extra cars that were released with the single patch to make up for it being delayed.
Epic fail has never fitted better.
I don't really mind that there are patches, as long as its not intentional. I usually buy games WAY after their release, so I don't have to deal with crap like that.
It really got released too soon O_O
