Atari prices 360 game higher than other platforms

Category: Xbox 360, Posted: 12/03/2007 at 06:00PM CST by Tim Mellish, Contributor

atariVideogames aren't cheap and unless one has an incredibly large expendable income, buying an interactive experience, for most of us, is not done lightly. The game has to be good, and more importantly, the price is right.

So it has to make one wonder just what the heck Atari games is thinking of when they announced there would be different prices for their upcoming game Conflict: Denied Ops by Pivotal Games.

The only good point about this story is that this pricing variation has not hit the states. Our friends down under are not so fortunate. Conflict: Denied Ops will be priced at $69.95 on the PC, $99.95 for the PS3, and $109.95 for the Xbox 360. There has been no information about why Xbox 360 owners have to pay more.

We should all be worried about this.

There is no reason different platform versions of a game should cost different amounts. Sure there are some acceptable examples between the PC and console world, but charging someone more on the Xbox 360 or PS3 with no explanation doesn't make much sense. I may not have a degree in business, but I think I am safe in saying that this isn't a good move for the Conflict: Denied Ops game.

Worth noting that $110 australian is only ~ $96 US...

heh... while 69.95 is fairly low for a new PC game here in Aus, the average price for a new release 360 is 99.95-109.95 an the average for a PS3 is 99.95 - 119.95.

dont see anything strange here.. cept that 360 is more pricey.. normally its the PS3 that costs more

I guess us Yanks don't know how good we've got it over here as far as prices for games go. And we thought $60 was already pushing the envelope.

"I guess us Yanks don't know how good we've got it over here as far as prices for games go."

Especially with the value of the US dollar going downhill so fast, it's insane how much we save compared to everyone else!
