That's what Nintendo president Reggie Fils-Aime says.
In a recent interview with MSNBC he claims that the mass market is much more interested in Mii creation than the features offered by Xbox Live or those planned for Sony's Home. The Regginator's exact words when asked to compare Nintendo's online services to those of the competition (such as friends' lists and gamertags) were as follows:
"Our view is that the online experience needs to be something that adds value to the consumer experience and enables them to have a more in-depth experience – especially with the Wii remote. When you talk about gamertags, that really is a hardcore desire versus activity like creating Miis and other functionality that in our view, is much more what the mass market wants in their video-game console."
Well, Reggie, I like you, but that seems like a fantasy statement (unless the Wii truly does only sell to soccer moms and kindergarteners). If there's anything to prefer about Nintendo's online services, it'd have to be the price tag. Other than that, there isn't even a comparison to be made - Xbox Live does online, Nintendon't.

Nice Sega quote xD
Oh hey.
Well, a casual gamer probably would enjoy the experience of creating a Mii as opposed to creating a Gamertag. But after that, I'm pretty sure XBox Live offers quite a bit more.
Nintendo's head is getting bigger.
Like I said in another story where Nintendo was talking bigger than their game, this exact kind of behvaior is what killed them after the success of the SNES, leading to the N64. History repeat itself?
Can I have your friend code? *sigh*
Reggie is an incomprehensible tool. The company's half-assed attitude toward online sickens me.
Don't forget friend's codes Reggie. They teach kids to hate numbers way before the rest of us, who usually were okay with them until Trig.
The one link in the Nintendo chain that I want removed is blasting hot air from his talk-hole yet again.
I wouldn't mind having a persistent customizable 3d avatar for my gamertag, but it's in no way needed. Plus, adding friends on Xbox Live is way easier than inputting friend codes, from what I've heard.
BahamutBBob - Do-it-yourself open-heart surgery is easier than inputting friend codes.
I HATE FRIEND CODES. I dont understand who thought that was a GOOD idea. And i think it should just die, DIE!!! remember square was complaining about friend codes? why didnt that be enough!
"Nintendon't" nice.
Nintendo sure does love them some Nintendo, don't they? Just the word Friend Code sucks compared to gamertag.
