Fury, a fast paced arena based MMO created by Auran will be free of any monthly charges. With the next patch, players that chose to play the free mode called "Chosen" are exempt from paying subscription fees, enjoying almost every aspect the game has to offer.
"As one of the Chosen, players can access all game types, equip all weapons and unlock all 400 abilities - and they can play as much as they like absolutely free. This is a fantastic opportunity for players to jump into battle with their mates and discover the frenetic pace of the fastest RPG combat ever. Chosen will earn less gold and essence, and will not be able to trade with other players" said Tony Hilliam, CEO of Auran.
If you are willing to spend a little bit of cash you can unlock "Hero" mode which gives you more essense and gold than that of the Chosen mode. Players will also be allowed to buy gold directly from Auran themselves.
This decision is coming when Auran is swimming in a sea of troubles, cutting developer staff positions along with financial insecurity.
Do you think they are unwillingly following a trend of "free to play" subscriptions? Other companies are following the same steps, making it free to play but using micro transactions instead to generate revenue. Most of the time companies are cutting out the subcription fees because of poor sales performance and small gamer interest.
Any Noders play Fury and are happy about the decision?

I think they're unwillingly making it free to play because no one is playing it. They released the game about 6 months too early, and it bit them in the ass.
Just another in the flood of derivitive MMOs that just don't understand that people aren't done with WoW yet.
You know, if they just made a GOOD MMO (one with a good battle system, fair grind, interesting quests, a good friend/party system, and fun environments and movement), and if they had a low subscription cost, then it'd be a successful game! Too many games have some elements, but the biggest plague is a terrible grind and rinse-wash-repeat quests. Pure crap as far as games go. Free to play won't always make a difference, especially when the games suck. That's why I don't play MMOs.
Well, when i first read this, I saw "Furry MMO," and violently cringed. Then I looked again, and realized that I am just an idiot =)
FREE MMO!!!!! anyone play silkroad? Great one, kinda dumbed down, and all the weapons were the same..... still addicitve.
I was in the Fury beta ...for like 8 hours. Amazingly halfassed and poorly designed game that just wasn't any fun. ... I mean more so than usual for MMOs. ;)
