If you will recall last week, we reported a story about a dad in Canada who came home early from work one day with a gift for his son--the very rare and sought after Guitar Hero III.
His son would have been thrilled if not for the fact that his buddies and him were all partaking of a few joints when his father arrived on the scene. Big whoops! The dad decided to punish his son by selling GH III on eBay.
The bidding is over now and a buyer has purchased Guitar Hero III for an incredible $9,100.01.
Now we're wondering, did the buyer take a few hits off of those joints as well?
The bidding for the item seemed to have reached a plateau at around the $222 mark a few days ago when suddenly, aspire1700computer, a bidder on eBay, started to not only bid, but continually placed bids against himself until the price reached the $9,100.01 mark.
If you ask us, this looks a little fishy and someone may have entered these bids to teach the dad a lesson. We'll see if the final bid was legitimate or not within a few days. But if the bid is genuine, the dad and son will certainly be celebrating, er, without the pot of course.
That's hilarious. But what was this aspire1700 trying to prove? (Assuming he was trying to mess up the bidding) If all his bids were fake, it'll just go to the last person who made a serious bid. Or has EBAY changed their rules?
This whole thing smells horribly fake. I don't even know why this is news.
lol
"This whole thing smells horribly fake. I don't even know why this is news."
Frank has his RSS feed pick up on any new article on the Internet with the words "pot" and "guitar" in the title.
Damit. I TOLD you not to tell anyone about that.
Brendon - Heh.
Seriously though, this just SCREAMS "eBay sales pitch." More likely this guy's a professional eBayer who made another handle to hide the fact. Place is ruthless.
I can understand your concerns about eBay. I still do some eBaying myself and the place is filled with rip off artists. But in this case, the offer and resulting long list of replies and detail of the event seem much too involved to be a scam. I understand your dislike of eBay, but stories like this are entertaining, if nothing else.
That is ridiculous (applies, whether it's real or not)!
So what, the Darth Vader Wii went for $150,000 right?!?!
I know I would be pissed if my dad sold my Christmas present. Well I wouldn't be if it was Guitar Hero 3, they're all the same to me, but if it was a good game like CoD4 or Crysis then I would be pissed.
Something smells fishy...only a robot on about 20 lbs. of CRACK would pay 9 grand for a game. I don't care what game it is...even if it was Attack of the Robots on CRACK!
It's a good job he sold it then lol.
Hmm, maybe the kid had something to do with the bidding...
All i gotta say is LOL!!!!
tottally fake. Anyone check aspires cred?
What about aspire's cred? He seems legit in that sense.
That's the weird part. Aspire has a 98%+ rating with 270 feedbacks. Doesn't figure.
