Crysis--3,000 stacked barrels all fall down

Category: PC, Posted: 12/17/2007 at 02:54PM CST by Frank Ling, Editorial Director

crysis boomYou may have been tweaking your PC in order to squeeze the best performance out of Crysis, but one gamer has put his time and effort into something much more important than mere game play and graphics of the title.

He decided that stacking explosive drums on top of each other, to the tune of 3,000, was a worthy project. (We'll, it is Christmas break after all...)

We've all done this on a smaller scale before with our games in attempting to create a nice chain reaction effect, but 3,000 barrels? This guy should get some sort of award or commendation for his efforts.

To see them all go crashing down and then everything going boom, check out the video.

Well that was a waste of 4 minutes of my life.Nice crappy video with crappy article.

well Aidblood, if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all.... You should have expected the worst from a video about some crazzy kid stacking barrels like he is an adolescent Donkey Kong......

Umm, I'll be honest. I didn't go in expecting much, but that was pretty freaking AWESOME at moments!

This video is about 100 times cooler than the 2nd half of the full game.

I wanna download these maps from somewhere so I can knock over the barrels myself and watch it turn my PC into a smoldering pile of ash.

This is win.

Such a pity he can't look directly at the blast without crashing. Makes it a touch of a let down but still cool to see.

What we really need is a Wile E. Coyote game to make full use of these awesome physics simulations. Or better yet Itchy and Scratchy for full bore "skin him alive and set him on fire" action.

This is something that none of my consoles will ever achieve in this generation.................That was really cool. I would of loved to hear the explosions in surround sound.

That was cool. It'd be funny if he had to find each of those barrels in the game and take them to that location.

I didn't know what to expect, but man those barrels falling looked really cool as did the explosion, that was entertaining!

Truthfully how do you stack something that high, unless his admin of his own server and just flies around, but from the way it looks, just seems he spawned them all on top of each other.

I imagine you need a PhysX card to keep your PC from imploding and reducing itself to a singularity upon trying to calculate all that...

Amazing, I thought. Then again, I'm a whore for good physics.

He obviously placed them in the Sandbox level editor Aidblood7. If the crate video is anything to go by, these are in no way real time. 12 seconds a frame for the crate one, this can't be much different.
