Sony contest winners show their love for the PS3

Category: PlayStation 3, Posted: 12/22/2007 at 09:38PM CST by Frank Ling, Editorial Director

PS3 LoveSony held a contest that asked PS3 fans to submit their videos demonstrating "public displays of affection" for the game console. Entries were put on YouTube and three winners were selected.

What did they get for winning? A PS3 plus five games. Not bad at all. Check out the three videos and see if they really show some PS3 love. Interstingly enough, one of the winners took a poke at "another" gaming console in his video and won. Hmmmm.

One guy proclaims, "I don't need a girlfriend, just a PS3." He'd get some arguments from us on that statement.

Take a look at the videos and see for yourself.

To be fair, I didn't bother to watch the last one since the other ones were stupid. So it could have been good.

I decided to skip the first two and watch the last one... All you missed were two minutes of your life you'll want back.

I had to see the third one before I went to sleep.

Why did I do that? It's by far the worst. I can't tell if he thinks he's a good rapper or is doing it as a joke...

So Sony is so desperate they are using fanboys to promote the PS3. I'm sorry, but I find this approach and these stupid videos rather pathetic.

They were called out on the past for viral marketing. No saying Sony is the only one to do it, but they are bad at it. This is a more upfront attempt. Hell of a way to get videos on youtube of PS3 luv.
