During the Christmas weekend, a lot of gamers and new inductees to the world of the Xbox 360 were eagerly looking forward to some quality frag fests and fun via Xbox Live.
But all was not well as reports were coming in from various parts of the country that the Xbox Live service was behaving naughty and not nice concerning problems dealing with logging on, maintaining a solid connection and faulty service.
Not everyone experienced these problems but those who did were somewhat frustrated as connections to Xbox Live would suddenly, for no apparent reason, stop in the middle of gaming. Although the user's status on XBL was seen as "online," the connection was actually broken and games being played at this time would indicate that the user was disconnected from Xbox Live.
Although no reasons have been given for the XBL problems, we can probably guess that it was due to several factors. Microsoft probably had a skeleton crew working the servers during the holiday and there was a huge increase in the amount of gaming traffic and new subscribers logging onto Xbox Live.
Did anyone encounter these problems during the Christmas weekend?

I did, I kept getting booted, and couldn't reconnect until a few hours later.
It happened to me too. I was in the middle of a hot battle while playing HL2 in the Orange Box when my game suddenly froze. I thought I was the victim of a 360 meltdown when the status message said that I was disconnected from XBL. After about an hour and a few choice words, everything went back to normal.
Nope.
I was down for a while. I'd start Rock Band up and I got disconnected as soon as it booted. After I quit playing and went to the Dash, I logged back in. Haven't been on since Christmas, so I dunno if it's been fixed.
I was suddenly thrown off live, but it was only for a few minutes. I did notice that a few of my "friends" were also popping on and offline a lot.
Just got home and tried to log on, and it took a good 5 minutes. Hopefully it gets going soon. I need to kill some stuff!
