Whoops, looks like the New York Times had a few errors in regards to the planned wireless game downloads for the Nintendo DS via the Wii story.
The main error and the subsequent revision through a statement from Nintendo mentions that no, full downloadable DS games for the handheld through the Wii won't be coming, only game demos instead.
From Nintendo, "An article about the Nintendo DS video game system in the Dec. 31 Business Day section of the New York Times incorrectly referred to future capabilities of the device. The statement that complete Nintendo DS games will eventually be able to be downloaded into the device via a wireless connection with the company's Wii game console is incorrect.
Users can download games to play on Wii, and, in the future, the Nintendo DS will be able to receive demo versions of some DS games from Wii, but not the entire game. The demo will be erased once the Nintendo DS is turned off."
Looks like the confusion was between the DS game demos and Wiiware titles.

When I first read the story on FileFront, my first impulse was "old news!" thinking it was talking about the demos. I knew this didn't sound right.
DS = fail
I only liked before the PSP came out.
