Diamond, not as good as gold but better than silver? However the hierarchy goes, Diamond XBL members won't be enjoying their free status any longer because sometime this year a fee will be forced upon all Diamond members.
The Diamond Card program will also be wholly run on your Passport Unlimited information.
Even though the annual subscription fee of $6.95 isn't very much, any subscriptions that were privioiusly free or joined later will have a fee tagged on--which seems to always anger customers. Current Diamond Card members won't have to pay the fee until their current subsciption runs out.
According to the Xbox Live website, the Diamond Card gives paid subscribers exclusive benefits and discounts from stores, restaurants and retailers. Such stores include Ticketmaster, Cambridge Soundworks, Timberland and McDonald's.

What is Xbox Live Diamond?
It's basically like an AAA card. You get discounts at places if you use it, although when you use it they usually have no idea what it is since so few people have it. I signed up for it when it was first announced, but apparently the first few thousand people who signed up got lost in the database or something, because no one ever got it.
I am an Xbox Live Diamond Cardholder, and I think the only requirements at the time were to be and Xbox Live Gold member. I did recieve a neat little card in the mail with my gamertag on it, but I haven't seen anywhere that required you to show the card to recieve your discount; all the discounts are recieved via entering a discount code like 'xbox' at a participating site, or by printing a coupon out on your inkjet. The system seems flawed, because knowing any one's gamertag that is a Diamond Card holder gives you access to the site and all the discounts. Maybe they're going to re-vamp the system with a .net passport system.
I've got a Diamond card, but there's no way I'm paying $7 a year for it. I've used it once: a coupon for a $1 burrito from a Del Taco an hour away from my house.
Alienware and other big name places take it, but honestly, who's buying an Alienware every year?
EB/Gamestop have $10 off of orders $75 or more, which is good, but their horrendous customer service has made me stop using them. It's cheaper and faster to hop on the bus and go to anywhere that sells games.
I'll not be renewing my Diamond card.
