Anyone who has played any of the Worms titles can attest to the fact that it's just plain fun blowing up the little invertebrates with bombs, missiles and other explosive weapons of doom and destruction.
The next game coming up in this series for the Wii, called Worms: A Space Oddity, will have more of the same hilarious gameplay action but with one major omission -- it won't have online multiplayer as was first announced for the game.
This will probably put a dampener on a lot of people's expectations as an online multiplayer would have been a blast, so to speak. Team 17's explanation for leaving out the online multiplayer mode was this:
"We've chosen to focus on making the best possible local multiplayer experience through fast-paced gameplay and entertaining party-games. Players will get even more fun and satisfaction from being able to see the reaction of their friends and taunting them with attacks face-to-face."
While this sounds a little like a car dealer telling you he didn't supply tires with your car so you could get more enjoyment out of walking, the online feature will be sorely missed by many.
Worms: A Space Oddity will be released in March of 2008.

See no reason to buy it then, good work Team 17.
Honestly, that was a big selling point for this game. If it's not going to have it, I can play online in the XBL version just fine.
*claps hands over eyes, shakes head sadly*
Why must you crush all my hopes and dreams, Team 17?
