Last week, GamerNode reported on the possibility of Goldeneye 007 making its way to Xbox Live Arcade.
While Microsoft has been typically mum on the subject, SPOnG managed to get a response from the company in regards to how the great demand for the game’s re-release via digital distribution has affected them.
"We don't comment on rumours and speculation. While the games community's response to this rumour is extremely flattering, we don't have anything to announce at this time," stated a Microsoft representative.
If anything, this serves as proof that the individuals calling the shots at Microsoft Game Studios acknowledge the fact that many gamers are partial to the idea of playing an upgraded version of the 64 bit classic.
Don't nintendo still own the rights to this game though? Or did that disapear when Rare diserated Nintendo?
Nintendo publish it, and there's DK references as it was made by Rare. It seems that publishers have lots of power if you take Far Cry or FEAR into perspective.
I dunno.
The game is owned by Rare. That is why no official remake was ever made and why "Goldeneye 2" was such a disaster (it was made by EA). As Rare are owned by Microsoft (that is the case is it not?) there is a chance of a remake but there may be some strings still attached to Nintendo with the game. I hope not though. An online version would be awesome to say the least, partly due to the fact that Goldeneye: Source fails.
