For the folks who are awaiting compensation for the Xbox Live downtime last month have known that they'll be getting a free Xbox Live Arcade game for quite some time, but the question is what game?
Over on the Gamerscore Blog, the free XBLA game is Undertow. Here's the official word with the rather short download window note:
"...announced that all Xbox LIVE members (Gold and Silver) around the world would have access to a full Xbox LIVE Arcade game to download free of charge. We're pleased to announce that beginning next Wednesday, 2:00 a.m. PST through Sunday, 11:59 p.m. PST, Xbox LIVE members worldwide can download the full version of the recent award-winning Xbox LIVE Arcade game, Undertow."
John Porcaro of Microsoft briefly mentioned in a follow-up comment that the people who already own Undertow can "call support, they're prepared to take care of you."
Kyle reviewed Undertow for GamerNode and gave it a shiny 8.5 out of 10, so give it a try!

I already have the game, but I don't really care. This will get more people playing it, much like what happened with Carcassonne.
I didn't really like the trial of Undertow, but free stuff is free stuff no matter how you look at it.
"Call support, they're prepared to take care of you." Sounds like the Mafia may be running tech support for M$ these days...
Undertow is a great game. I'm thrilled that there are going to be more people playing it now.
I guess this should make the shooter crowd happy but as for everyone else Undertow might just register as a meh. Well, at least they didn't give us SpongeBob...

This coming from the person with Gary the snail as their photo? :-p
Nice. I was worried that they were going to offer a crap game.

There's very little options when you suffer from a cartoon snail fetish.
I have not been able to sign into Live for almost a month, so it does not matter what game they offer. lol. Eat me Microsoft!
