Playing the Metal Gear Solid games, was for many, a unique experience in which stealth and action elements were combined at the same time-- you no longer had to kill everything in sight; in some cases being undetected was more important.
For those who missed the original series or would want to re-live the stealthy moments, Konami announced that it will be releasing a compilation of the Metal Gear Solid games for the PlayStation 2.
According to an official news release, Konami said:
"Since its inception, the Metal Gear Solid franchise has been one of the most successful game series in the history of video games, receiving worldwide recognition and praise. Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection represents a great value for gamers, bringing together three must-have classic titles which pioneered the stealth action genre."
The collection will most likely coincide closely with the release of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for the PS3 -- a highly anticipated game that many expect to be a blockbuster hit for Sony's game console.
Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection will include the Metal Gear Solid version for the original PlayStation, the director's cut Of Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 versions for the PS2 and is packaged in a special edition format along with artwork by Metal Gear Solid artist Yoji Shinkawa.
The Essential Collection for Metal Gear Solid will retail for $29.99. No official release date has been set as of yet.
