No online worlds for the Wii

animal crossingRumors once floated on the internet of a MMO game based on Animal Crossing. It has the qualities of a MMO, but how exciting could it really be? Nintendo president Satoru Iwata was questioned recently about if any type of online gaming for the Wii will be released in the future and here is what he said.

"The virtual-world services out there now still aren't at a place where we'd like to join in, and certainly not to the point that we'd want to jump into competition with everybody else. We'd rather focus on doing things that nobody else would do."

He continues to say, "so even if we were to make a virtual-world-like product, we'd be sure to make it something that nobody would call it a product similar to another company's offering." What is with Iwata and this infatuation with these"gimicky toys" for the Wii? Whenever he mentions Wii Fit or Wii Sports, he beams like he just invented the future of enjoyment. Ahem, yes...

Well the thoughts of an Animal Crossing online is as far as we know, fed to the dogs, and the idea of waving your Wiimote to mimick your Ashbringer in World of Warcraft is nothing more but fiction; at least we'll be taking yoga lessons on top of your Wii Fit board in Get Fit 2: The Quest for Inner Peace.

Ok, this officially pisses me off. Nintendo has labeled themselves as the "anti" company now. If you strive to be different, the you try to hard, and forgot what you started at.

At least brawls online.

They don't care about it until they do something that works, then everyone starts giving them credit for innovating the industry.

So what if I'm bitter?
