Rockstar sets GTA IV 360 record straight

Category: Xbox 360, Posted: 02/13/2008 at 10:43PM CST by Tim Mellish, Staff Writer

Thanks to the comments from Microsoft's Don Mattrick, who claimed the multiplayer experience for GTA IV would be unique to the Xbox 360, Rockstar has come forth to set the record straight. As stated directly from RockStar, both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 will contain multiplayer portions for GTA IV. Those worried that the PlayStation 3 version of GTA IV will lack multiplayer support can breathe a sigh of relief.

What has not been addressed is what exactly those multiplayer components will be, and if they will differ from system to system. This could explain why Microsoft said their version of the multiplayer is special, but I can't imagine it being that much better than the PlayStation 3. RockStar started their GTA reign on Sony's machine, after all. They won't provide anything less than a perfect experience for their loyal fan base.

Still, it will be interesting to see what the multiplayer component will be ultimately, and if it adds to the GTA IV experience or is more of a distraction. With the GTA series being such a single player focused experience, let's hope that RockStar is pulling out all the stops for the multiplayer and not tacking it on as just another one of the jack-of-all-trades portion of the game like previous iterations of the GTA franchise have ultimately suffered from.

I've never liked a GTA game, so it wouldn't bother me in the least.

For real? i love anything 80's, the music, the colors, the cars, the style, and just pretty much everything (Except for you xtreme, your still gaey) SO vice city was my fav, and now that i think about it, its the only one i REALLY got into. I played liberty city stories for a while, a long while, but i dont remember anything important in that game. hmm, lame.

I played Metal Gear Solid 2 for 2 days straight. I told myself I would play no other game until I finished it. GTA 3 made a lier out of me. All hail the king of games.

meh.

If it's good I'll be happy if it sucks I'll happily move on.

If it's good I'll be happy, if it sucks I'll cry myself to sleep for a month.

And IMO the multiplayer doesn't matter, as long as the singleplayer delivers it's worth it.

most overrated series is halo and then this lol

I wouldn't say overrated... I just hate GTA:SA because of all the craptastic 'GTA Clones' it spawned.

As for GTAIV, it looks like a return to form, and we'll have that 'awesome, never been done before' feeling we all had when we first played GTAIII.

I never even knew there was a multiplayer lol...
