Before we go any further, lets all realize that this is the exception--not the norm for Xbox Live. Relationships over the internet, especially a gaming experience, very seldom work and generally are not the best idea in the world.
But that didn't stop a couple to ultimately meet in real life after they ran into each other over Xbox Live while playing Rainbow Six Lockdown. The story goes that after a few games, which broke the ice and removed the typical opponent anonymity, both players began to generally like each other. On a whim they decided to meet despite the geographical distance between Georgie and Jersey.
Now they have a beautiful baby, and they attribute it all the Xbox Live community. Again let me restate that this is the exception, not the normal outcome of an Xbox Live friendship.
Unfortunately, it seems that 99% percent of the time, the people you meet online generally fall into the raciest, homophobic, fourteen year old who loves to swear at how everyone is a noob but him despite his score being the lowest on the team.
So don't expect to find the man or woman of your dreams online. Just play the game.

This would be the mother of the nice little xbox baby.:) My name is Stacy and I met my soon to be hubby on xbox live. I see that many different websites have been posting up the story, and thats fine with me. But I have a slight problem with yours. For one...that baby in the pic is not my baby...not cool. If you are going to run a post, you could get the correct pic. Believe me its everywhere. Also, the story is wrong. I was from Georia and he was from the Bronx, NY. And just one last thing, when you say 99% of the time, things like this just dont work out.....I believe you are wrong. Im not trying to be rude..but since this has posted, I have recieved over 600 emails, messages on live, and letters to my myspace from men and women who have met their spouses or bf/gf on Xbox Live. Some have been together for years. Yes, I have ran into the ignorant little kids that act stupid, but I have to tell you I have over 100 friends from all over the world that I speak to on a regular basis, that dont act like that. So please dont try to catergorize your 99%. Thank you for you time Mr. Tim Mellish.....have a nice day:)
And if you dont believe this is actually the mother....feel free to send me an email..I registered with your site..you should be able to get it. Or you can send me a message on my myspace..www.myspace.com/_lady_danger_..I will be sure to write you back:)
There certainly are a fair share of miscreants on XBox Live. But repatedly stating that "99%" of the time you run into jerks? That's just hyperbole. I'd also love to see the data on the assertion that "Relationships over the internet, especially a gaming experience, very seldom work and generally are not the best idea in the world." I assume that there's some scientific study you're basing that statment on? Because you know, I don't think it's generally considered to be good journalistic practice to make stuff up in news articles (although I'll admit it sure does seem to happen a lot). ;^)
Congratulations, MissDanger!
