I really love Darwinia. It's one of the few games I always get an itch to play again after months of forgetting it existed, and one of the even fewer that seems to appeal to just about anyone who tries it. I play it so regularly that it seems unreal to me that it originally came out over three years ago. For quite a while now we've been hearing rumors about the impending release of the game on XBLA, but just now Introversion has confirmed once and for all that it's making the jump this Autumn.
Titled Darwinia+, the game will feature the original Darwinia and the upcoming Multiwinia: Survival of the Flattest in one package. (For those of you with PCs and the original Darwinia, Multiwinia will be released simultaneously on PC.)
"When we first started Introversion back in 2001, the idea of developing our games for a console seemed an impossible challenge, and whilst we have built a fantastic community around our PC games, and will continue to support that, it has always been our dream to take the next step and produce a console title," said Chris Daley, creative director at Introversion Software. "Multiwinia is the natural conclusion of what we started with Darwinia way back in 2002 and with the launch of Live Arcade, Microsoft has presented us with a fantastic opportunity to get onto a rung of the console ladder. We're really looking forward to introducing Darwinia+ to a whole new audience."
As we get closer to the latter portion of 2008, keep your eyes peeled for more news on Darwinia+ and Multiwinia. In the meantime, if you have a PC and haven't played Darwinia yet, give it a shot; why wait half a year when you can experience it now?

"why wait half a year when you can experience it now?"
Because my 360 remembers my dad's credit card from when he let me buy a LIVE subscription, and I don't know his number to buy it off Steam. :)

How.............EVIL.............
Sounds interesting. I'll keep an eye out for it. I'll just wait for it to come out on the 360. Sure I could get it for the PC, but I don't game much on my PC anymore. I'd rather play it on the 360, and I've got no shortage of games to keep me occupied these days (still making time for Culdcept, Brendon?) ;^)
Why wait a while? Because my PC sucks. No point in experiencing a game when that experience will be unstable and choppy. I demo'd Darwinia a while back, despite its simplicity, my computer was not having it.
I am
stupid cut-off...
Said I am loving the XBL arcade, as long as they keep feeding gems like this regularly, I will likely keep on buying them...
WOOOOT
New Darinia!
I loved the game when it first came out and I can't wait for Multiwinia.
