Remember Prey? That game that was delayed so often it ended up not quite meeting the expectations we made for it? (If that doesn't help you remember that's fine, because I'd guess at least a quarter of all big releases fall into that category.) If you never got a chance to try it (or didn't want to waste the money on it) you're in luck, because this weekend only, the game is available for the low price of $4.95 on Steam. In other words, you can buy the game for the price of a rental (which is what most people did to play Prey the first time around).
"Here's a deal you can sink your teeth into: this weekend only, pick up the acclaimed first person shooter Prey for just $4.95. In Prey, players enter a living spaceship which enslaves alien races and devours humans for lunch. Prey turns the first person shooter genre upside down with awesome new gameplay features like wall-walking and gravity flipping, making for intense single-player and multi-player experiences. Prey is built on a heavily modded version of the Doom 3 engine and is developed by critically acclaimed developer Human Head Studios under the direction of 3D Realms," the Steam release reads.
So is it worth the price? Here's what the long-gone Adam Aragon had to say about Prey in our review: "From a perspective outside the nitpicking, it's a really fun game; it's scary, fast, brutal, and very well executed. Despite its shortcomings, it's still definitely worth playing. It's not perfect, but it's damn close at times."

Why isnt it showing up in Steam at all? Ive done a search and everything... :S
The only 2K Game Australia gets is Bioshock, all Civ games, and Prey, and Pirates are no longer available due to licensing agreements. (or the shit US dollar and they want you to go to a store and pay $30 for Prey)
I played this a while ago on my brother's XBox, and I was very surprised. I'd heard all sorts about it being disappointing and crap and such, but it was fun, there was a very clear motive for your actions (thanks to your character's actions) and it had some interesting gameplay. My only real criticisms of it are that some of the weapons are useless, and occasionally the way to advance is completely unknown.
What so Aussies can't take advantage of this deal?
That's Right! Otherwise I'd be playing it right now >.
Wow fast reply. That is fecking ghey. Looks like they've just kicked themselves in the nads by not including us, and dashed any chance of me ever playing the game.
It's not the first time, check the CoD 4 price; 88.50 USD, we don't get the Rockstar games, we don't get the Atari games, nor do we get the THQ games like STALKER, Company of Heroes and Dawn of War. Luckily we did get Epic's games so the Unreal series, and we have the iD Software games up there too which is good but yeah, we do miss out on alot.
Be nice to have some other people on Steam to play Prey with, awesome multiplayer.
Well, since I already bought this for closer to the price that it's worth, I can say that this amazing deal is lost on me.
Damn, I missed it. It's back up to 19.95
