Hot off the sweet deal that was Prey for $4.95 this weekend, Valve announced that video game publisher Ubisoft is the latest publisher to join the Steam ranks.
With a pledge to bring over 40 games to the game delivery service, only two games are available for immediate purchase: Far Cry for $8.95 and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell for $17.95, remember you save 10% till next Tuesday.
In addition, folks can pre-purchase Assassin's Creed before its release on April 9th. Make sure to check out the beefy system requirements too.
Future game releases include titles from the Tom Clancy series, the Heroes of Might & Magic series, the IL-2 Strumovik series and more.
Past publishers/developers who've signed with Steam include Rockstar Games, SEGA, Codemasters, id Software, THQ, Capcom, Eidos Interactive, 2K Games and Activision.

woot! when did ubi get big again, i cant remember?
I'd be excited if I wasn't feeling quite so anit-Ubisoft right now.
Oh, and it appears to region-locked to the United States and Canada.
Yup, region locked but at least my second favourite distributor of games, Steam being my favourite, has all the Ubisoft games... bittorrent. Way to go Ubisoft, way.to.go.
Can't wait to play AC and Vegas 2 on Steam =D
To bad their prices seem to be jacked up so far. $20 for a 5yr old game? Assassins Creed wasn't that great of a game. Good rental, but not worth buying for many reasons. I'm just tired of Ubisoft putting out half finished, untested, buggy games.
