The device is a small rectangular touch screen phone and fits in the palm of your hand. If you guessed that the device was none other than the iPhone from Apple, you'd be wrong. What we just described is Nokia's new iphone killer--presently called the Tube.
Details are scarce at the moment but what is known so far is that the Tube will be powered by a new version of the Symbian operating system. The Tube may also incorporate built in Java support and DVB-mobile TV standard--hence the nickname of the Tube.
What may be of interest to gamers is Nokia's rather large library of mobile games. While the iPhone is just beginning its journey as a multi-functional device, Nokia may have a head start as far as games is concerned for their new touch screen phone. With this be the iPhone challenger?
Tom Libretto, VP of the Nokia forums didn't offer any more details on the release date or the price point of the Tube but it's certain that Apple will be keeping an eye on this new contender that is entering the ring.

If it gets final fantasy 7 before crsis i will smile :)
Well, at the very least, with a name like Tube it won't have bad Jean Luc Picard jokes made about it. Let's hope it ends up being a good device.
I've got one of the Nokia N phones that can play the new N-Gage service games and honestly... I don't. I just don't use my phone in that regard when in my man-purse I carry my NDS, PSP Slim and my front pocket has a 160GB iPod with every Family Guy, Arrested Development, Battlestar Galactica, Lost episode as well as a handful of movie classics and the thousands of awesome songs on there. There just is no reason to play a game on a phone, no matter how awesome the game is.
Rather than make a phone with game capabilities, why doesn't someone make a portable games console with phone capabilities?
Little late for April Fool's jokes Nokia...
Random spoon, remember what the n gage was originally?
My iPhone plays movies, music and works as a phone and web browser and the june update will include gaming, not that I will game much, but who knows. Actually, it is not so much a phone/ipod as it is a replacement for most of things I used to do on my laptop, but a tad smaller. About the only thing I dont use my iphone for is word processing, the keyboard is just too small.
I wrote a report for school on my iPhone, emailed it to myself and printed it ou,t all on the day it was due from the school library. With a name like the Tube, it will surely be on the receiving end of many toilet jokes.
