Majesco flames bad review of cooking mama with email

Uh oh, be wary fellow game reviewers--Majesco doesn't like it when you harp on their games. Gamespot's Alex Nevarro gave Majesco's Cooking Mama 2 a 6/10 in his review late last year.

Alex said, "Not long before I left my previous job writing reviews of video games, I got this little gem from someone involved in the production of a game I didn't exactly care for. Game-makers bitching about reviews is nothing new, but rarely do they do it with as much sarcastic flair as this one does."

In Majesco's own words:

"Hey Alex,
I would like to thank you for your review of Cooking Mama 2 for the DS. It was fair and balanced seemed to come from a special place in your heart. I would like to thank you for your blunt honesty and telling people the game is "not worth their while" and that they could "safely leave this one alone".

With the first Cooking Mama DS reached one million units in Europe and near of one million state side, I began to worry that this might begin to go to our heads. Majesco's parking lot would be flooded with Bentley's, Maybach's, and rare hybrid cars that run on a ego. This is no longer my fear.

So, I tip my cap to you good sir for keeping us grounded. God knows we are indeed all financially well off and not a bunch of hard-working people just trying to pay our bills. Keep up the good work and stay Golden."

While immature on Majesco's part, the email is rather humorous. Still, this kind of thing is completely unacceptable. I cringe when I see developers and publishers pull these kinds of stunts. I actually had this exact same thing happen to me once (albeit from a different publisher). It's annoying and just plain stupid.

Haven't played any of the Cooking Mama games, but being created by a hard-working person has never made and will never make a game immune to criticism. :| If that were true, virtually everything would received praise.

Developers need to stop taking easy street and making, what I consider, homebrew games. If their skin is not thick enough to handle the criticism of one person then they need to find a new profession.

Reviews are not the bullet points on the back of a retail box.
Reviews are not advertisement for a product.
Reviews are the opinion of one person who may or may not like your product.

Instead of bitching, they could just make the next game better based on the critissismsdmwrnmwurn

Wow, so unprofessional. Maybe developers should try making good games for once instead of pushing the same old crap year after year.

I actually find critical reviews more useful. Then when I pick up a game and happen to not like it, I won't constantly be wondering how it got such a high score. Which is the feeling I was left with after finishing Jak 2.
