The most powerful form of marketing is word-of-mouth. Given this commonly known bit of advertising 101 splendor, who better to act as herald to one of the biggest games of the year sold only for a console in desperate need of any kind of content; let alone the highly marketable system-selling triple-A blockbuster kind; than the die-hard fans; the people who have had the next entry in the series at the top of their "most anticipated" list since they were forced to pull the trigger on their virtual mentor in a sea of white flowers over four years ago. These people, of which I'm a proud card-carrying member, are arguably any series greatest asset, and expanding their numbers must be made a top priority. Unfortunately, just the opposite has happened. Konami and Sony have just pissed them off.

I am a very big fan of the Metal Gear Solid saga, so like the author of this article, I too logged in at 12:00 am on Monday night, and I too refreshed my page every Hr. ALL NIGHT!. I got to work at 8:30(late from been up all night) I logged in again to my account, make sure to be one of the first, but nothing, and nothing, blah blah blah. Then 3:00 pm hit, and I too saw that green tab to pre-order available, but then it became on of the worst online experiences Ive EVER had.
1st the page would take eons to load, then error messages back and forth, then my user name was not the same, then a message saying I had ordered 4 bundles, then I would remove 3 from my cart, and it would completely freeze, then I would mange to finally only get 1 item, but the shipping info was all jacked up, had to go all the way back to fix it, even more loading. By this time it was 7:00 pm already, I really wanted the Fuking things, so I was not going to give up, nope not yet. Then a miracle occurred, I manage to get to the "billing" section, all I had to do was input my credit card info, did it all faster then ever, clicked "continue" to receive my confirmation, but then the same shit all over again, "timed out" "not in service" kind of shit. Well it hit 9:00 pm, suddenly the webpage was smooth as 60FPS gaming, pages would load up fast, no error messages, all good right?
Well no, you see somehow the server, said I had 1 item on my cart, but when I went to check out, there would be nothing just a charge for shipping( $23.00 or so) but no merchandise. I had a reference number, but no product, holly shit I was perplexed. Then that dumb ass message came up "check back tomorrow for more stock".
Well today is that tomorrow and now I couldnt even click on the "preorder" tab anymore, nope it said I had purchase one already(I felt like shooting someone), but it gets bette, yeah this KONAMI INTERNET BULLSHIT, I call it. Turns out I check my bank account, and voila funds deducted from my bank account, ok now I was actually going to drive to KONAMI HQ here in CALI, I dont live to far from them, but it turns out I was reimbursed because I never order such item(according to a KONAMI REP). Oh well I said, fuck this, I had enough.
In all honestly I dont even want to purchase anything related to Konami anymore, their ability to fuck up with customer service is awesome, we all know the bullshit we went through just to play the beta, and this time around they turned up a notch with the bundle, If it wasnt because Kojima Productions actually care about US fans I would cancell my resev. at GAME STOP.
Konami is nothing more the corporate shit.
holy shit? are you saying, and let me get this straight, a site that sells a LIMITED EDITION SYSTEM of one of the MOST POPULAR GAMES OF ALL TIME was actually acting funny when there was the first chance to preorder? huh, i never though that could happen.
