Enough already: Worn-out franchises

Category: Features, Posted: 05/24/2008 at 08:38PM CDT by Eddie Inzauto, Senior Editor

GN FeatureToday I will be continuing my spontaneous semi-mini-quasi-series on videogame sequels. Last week I listed a a handful of sequels that don't yet exist, but definitely should be on my consoles...now. I don't think my words will be as pleasant this week, because these are the franchises that have too many sequels, and should probably just call it quits already (or change significantly).

Without further ado, my list of gaming franchises that have worn out their welcome in one way or another:

Enough already

Final fantasy

Seriously, kill it.

The battle system in Final F finally got good, now you want to kill it?

I think the reason I'm not burned out on it is that I only played VI and XII. I tried VII and didn't like it. I got XII as a gift from a friend who was really pushing it, and I'm glad he did.

I agree about Tony Hawk and Sonic *anything* for sure. Dynasty Warriors I know little about.

wow this subject is worn out the titles don't make the game the game makes the game okay so stop complaining about final fantasy titles. I play them for the game not the title okay so the only reason it is on the list is because of the name. so if we are going to judge fare lets complain about all games that just change a number okay. lets start off with a few games first starcraft 2 second street fighter IV third any sport games that just us the year like nba 08 fourth grand theft auto IV fifth halo 3 sixth gears of war 2. wow I could go on and on so all of these games are bad just for just adding a new number to them. so to be fair we should say enough to all numbered games and not just single one out. every company should just use the same title once and never reuse it again. yeah make them care more about the title and less about the game okay so if it says grand theft auto V that would totaly stink and i would not buy. HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!

ps no I would still buy it HA! HA!
