Microsoft possibly exploring new avenues for Halo

Category: Xbox 360, Posted: 06/27/2008 at 06:06PM CDT by Tim Mellish, Contributor

haloFile this one under the duh category, but Microsoft is still exploring what would potentially be the next Halo game after Halo Wars.

A marketing survey conducted by Microsoft asked participants to rate how likely they would be in buying the next Halo game if it fit one of the descriptions.

The gaming community would be better off without some of the suggestions seeing the light of day while others do offer an predictable choice. The list includes:

"A Halo LEGO Game
A Halo MMO game
A Halo racing game, using vehicles from the Halo universe
A more family friendly Halo game
A 3rd-person Halo action-adventure game
A Halo arcade game
A new Halo shooter where you don't play as Master Chief
Halo Wars (an RTS game set in the Halo universe) - [This one's definitely out this year]
A Halo squad based shooter game
A new Halo shooter with a story that takes place before the existing Halo trilogy
A new Halo shooter that is an extension of the Halo 3 game"

Lego, MMO, racing game? Like stated some of these ideas would make even the most hardcore Halo fan shudder in agony. Which game does the expert staff at GamerNode think will make an appearance from the Microsoft camp? We're leaning towards a new shooter with either the existing or new storyline.

A 3rd-person game wouldn't be too bad either. Bungie are the makers of Oni. Whatever it is, Bungie has earned enough credit to warrant them exploring new ideas.

Why are so many people obsessed with Halo? It's not even that good of a game.

Ohh, and the Lego Halo was just an April fools joke by EGM, I don't think they were serious.

thats what halo started out as...

and that was before the higher ups at bungie destroyed most of the creative freedom the delopers had, and thus making the shit halo 1-3

i'm going to guess that microsoft wants to know because... oh... maybe... just maybe... IT WILL MAKE A TON OF MONEY...
last i checked the ultimate goal of most companies is to make money and until the halo name stops making money... have fun trying to stop halo games from being made...

and lego halo WAS an april fools joke back in april and this "story" does not claim that anything is serious... but... if the game will make money and doesn't completely cheese the franchise shouldn't a company (who's goal is to make money) consider all of its options?

Why does everyone bash Halo? I think eh's a pretty cool guy, eh shoots aleins and doesn't afraid of anything!

i think the only one i would be interested is in HALO Wars if it was for the PC and not for the Xbox 360, which would never happppppen because the world hates ussssss /cry

Gah i am starting to get tired of halo.... though a Halo Wars for pc would be nice.
And i could also go for a shooter in which you dont play ass master chiefs which story is taking place before the trilogy

I think I would love a lego halo game, along with halo lego toys. That would rock.

Halo MMO, please. I like tanks and big freakin' guns, not horses and swords.
