First look: Jake Gyllenhaal in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Remember when we found out the star of the Prince of Persia film would be Jake Gyllenhaal? Many fans were skeptical, not sure how the star of Donnie Darko would hold up as the hero of the games. The Just Jared blog managed to get some pictures of Jake in costume on the set filming the movie... And I'll let the picture speak for itself.
It's quite obvious Jake has done some bulking up for the role, but what do you guys think? Personally, I think it looks like he's getting ready to play a caveman who finds an evil wig which then attaches itself to his head, transports him to modern times, and somehow controls his body so that he's able to get an attractive blond girlfriend in Modern America (all while being chased by a crazy doctor who's determined to prove he's of caveman descent), but I may be wrong. Either way, it's not a stretch to say he certainly doesn't look Persian.
Then again, maybe his performance will be enough to make me forget how dissimilar he looks from the character he's supposed to be playing. Only (the sands of) time will tell.

Speak for yourself? I think you mean "itself." :p Because I have my own thoughts and ... they center on "Wow, they really can bulk up anyone fast these days in Hollywood" and "Uh... Hm..."
Funny that the actual Prince from the games did have blue eyes, so he wasn't your typical Persian either, I guess:p But, this might be a stretch and a half... His scruffy look and outfit there reminds me a bit of the new Prince of Persia game a little bit, also.
Oh well. *shrugs* ....Oh, what's going on there in the belt area? Does he have three belts, or did someone crop him and paste him back wrong?
I just like the guy in the background with the mask on his forehead. There's a caption to be had in that image, but I just can't think of it.
Well, at least we now know that the film is going to be headed in the nu-metal Warrior Within direction rather than either of the GOOD games.
I more looks like the prince in Pop: WW than in PoP: SoT.
Yeah, I wish they had gone with SoT's costume style. So much more rich and less "WE'RE SO BADASS"
Yeah, I kind of forgot about WW's costume and scruffy look. I guess that's it, then. I still want to know what's up with the belt area:p
