The term "Wii60" has been a running joke for several years in the gaming community. The term was coined in 2006 when Microsoft and Nintendo suggested that gamers could buy both of its systems for the price of the newly launched PS3, which retailed for an astounding $599.
But now, Microsoft may actually be introducing a real-life version of the Wii60, according to a rumor by Xbox360fanboy. A marketing department insider at Microsoft says that the Xbox 360 Arcade bundle will be dropping in price to only $199. The price point is aimed directly at the Wii's relatively low price of $250.
The new Arcade version will sport the usual 360 without the hard drive, include a 512 memory card, preloaded game pack and a new motion controller. Motion controller? We thought that was the domain of the Wii. But if the rumors are correct, this new iteration of the Xbox 360 Arcade will have the motion controller plus motion controlled games.
The motion controller package is a direct head-to-head challenge against the Wii and will attempt to wrestle away the mighty hoards that have followed the pied piper to Nintendo's family oriented game console.
The source indicates that the new Xbox 360 Arcade bundle will be available during the holiday season this year. The Q Opinion on Activision/IW?
