What can we expect from the latest Star Wars: Battlefront DLC

Star Wars Battlefront

Last November saw the release of Electronic Arts’ latest first- and third-person shooter offering Star Wars: Battlefront. It landed on shelves just in time to accompany the furore that was surrounding the impending release of JJ Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The game was a reboot of the video game franchise that kicked off back in 2004 and in spite being met with mixed reviews, at least initially, it has gone on to great financial success selling around 13 million copies around the world.

Sci-fi and space in general is so popular in modern culture at the moment and with the Star Wars franchise enjoying another incredible revival as well as other films, spin-off online slots at Royal Vegas, and the release of space-orientated video games, Electronic Arts are hoping that their next phase of downloadable content, due for release this month, will help dwindling numbers of online players back to the game.

Star Wars: Battlefront Outer Rim

Outer Rim is the name of the second DLC for Battlefront. It will feature both Jabba the Hutt’s palace on Tatooine and also a factory area set in Sullust. The new expansion will be available on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC and will also come with a brand new patch.

The free update is rumored to have a set of new missions with Hutt Contracts, teased in a recent 30-second trailer. It’ll also come complete with a special Spectator Mode so that you can watch others play, as well as an increased Level Cap, from 50 to 60, and a host of new weapons. All this will be offered for free to all players and not just those who pick up the new Outer Rim DLC.

Star Wars: Battlefront Outer Rim

The Outer Rim DLC itself will be the first of 4 packs of downloadable content available for season pass owners of the original game, with the rest becoming available later this year. Outer Rim will have new maps as well as a new game mode entitled Extraction where Rebel forces are expected to extract a valuable shipment of resources before the Empire gets to them.

The new weapons that we’ll see in Outer Rim include the Relby V-10 rifle and DT-12 blaster, and new Star cards, Scatter Gun, Dioxis Grenade, and Adrenaline Stim will also be making an appearance in the expansion pack. But more interestingly it’ll also bring two new characters from the Star Wars universe into the game, namely Rodian bounty hunter Greedo and Alliance co-pilot Nien Nunb.
