Other than scant hints dropped last month, 2K Games has remained rather mum about BioShock DLC. But straight from the main man’s mouth comes that BioShock DLC is in the works, basically.
Ken Levine, founding member and lead designer of 2K Boston, made some comments with 1UP about BioShock DLC. Rather than just creating a few new items here and there, Levine envisions an expansion pack that not only expands the original game, but also extends the game, too. He compares it to a famous hack n’ slash 2001 RPG:
"Diablo II, to me, was a great model for an expansion, because it enhanced the original game, but also extended the game, too. I’m not a really big fan of expanding things just by linearly adding to the experience, adding a new campaign, as much as I am of enhancing the original experience and adding replayability to that experience… I think that certainly BioShock’s combat experience is great, but it could be broader. I’m a little more confused as far as how to expand the narrative experience."
When the previous hints about DLC dropped last month, it was revealed that several plasmids were cut during the game’s development. Levine admitted this to 1UP too, so you can imagine new plasmids are on the horizon. I can’t wait!
