Ninety-Nine Nights in August

Microsoft today announced that Ninety-Nine Nights will ship this August for the Xbox 360. Ninety-Nine Nights, or N3 as it’s affectionately referred to, is developed by Phantagram and Q entertainment. Development was assisted by Tetsuya Mizuguchi, the man behind Lumines and Meteos with SanYoun Lee of Kingdom Under Fire fame at the reigns. The game will be an Xbox 360 exclusive.

N3 gives players control of 7 different characters to fight epic battles leading to hundreds of characters (read: enemies) on screen at any given time, in conjunction with some rather stunning graphics.

The reason Microsoft must be so elated about this is, of course, because the Xbox has done so poorly in Japan. The new game plan is to forge full steam ahead by getting Japanese developers to put some exclusive games on the white console that will appeal to Japanese audiences, as well as Westerners. We reckon Microsoft is ready to rumble in the second round.
