Microsoft reveals Fall Xbox 360 Dashboard update

Xbox 360Speaking with Official Xbox Magazine, Microsoft has revealed that the Fall Dashboard update for the Xbox 360 will feature downloadable Xbox games and an on-demand movie service for Europe.

Soon, Xbox 360 owners will be able to download original Xbox titles to the 360’s hard drive, saving valuable shelf space and many trips to the bargain bin at Gamestop. The games – like Halo, Fable, Crash Bandicoot and Burnout 3 – will be priced at about 1200 MS points, or $15. Microsoft plans to make as much of the back Xbox catalog available for download as possible. This is like the Virtual Console I’ve always wanted. Now the question is when do they try to sell us a new, bigger hard drive?

Also part of the update is a new Video Rentalplace for European gamers, which allows users to download movies and watch them for one full 24-hour period. The best part is that the countdown doesn’t begin until the content is accessed for the first time, and Microsoft grants a two -week idly-sit-on-hard-drive window before the movie is automatically deleted.

The update is scheduled to be implemented on December 4th.
