High review scores sell games?

Money money moneyIn a study whose results can only be described as "shocking!" it has been asserted that games receiving higher-than-average review scores make higher-than-average bank.

According to Electronic Entertainment Design and Research (EEDAR), a videogame research company geared towards aiding designers, "Games which achieved a Metacritic score above 90 grossed sales up to 531% more than the industry average, but were less than 2% of all titles released."

This is the same study that told us that M-rated games achieve higher average scores and sell better than games in other ratings classifications, and that "shooters" earn the highest gross sales of all genres.

It’s a good thing someone is out there to tell us all this. I am absolutely blown away by these unbelievable findings.

Seriously, though.  531% is more than I expected.
