It looks like the USK, Germany’s version of the ESRB game ratings commission, revealed some upcoming and unannounced games from Konami. These three games were supposed to be unveiled at this year’s Leipzig Games Convention but as usual, word tends to slip out beforehand.
The three games are Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, Silent Hill Orphan and Metal Gear Solid 4. The Castlevania game was released for the Game Boy Advance in 2003 and a sequel was released for the Nintendo DS in 2005. Future console and handheld Castlevania games haven’t been announced yet, other than a remake of Akumajou Dracula X: Chi no Rondo for the PSP coming this fall; this could be the prime time to announce the next Castlevania game.
As for Silent Hill Orphan, there aren’t any games with that title in the Silent Hill series. The only new game is a sequel, dubbed Silent Hill V, which was announced at this year’s E3. Could Orphan be a port of Silent Hill V to another console, just under a different name? The subtitle Orphan fits the plot of the game, a war veteran returning home to find his father and brother missing and his mother has gone into catatonia; so initially he’s an orphan.
Finally, Metal Gear Solid 4 has already been confirmed for Leipzig and as expected, a new trailer and a special guest will appear. Maybe the game is being ported? Who knows!
Worth mentioning, in the report, the three games had the PC platform attached to them. This could be indicative of two things, either these games are just being showcased on the PC, like through a trailer or movie, or that these games are actually going to PC. While I wouldn’t doubt that these games may head to PC but it’ll seem way to early right now, so a nice trailer seems more reasonable. Or, you know, this can all be a giant bag of fluff.
